Jakusch

a tender, wordless, poetic piece about being old

A dimly lit attic.
On a bench a small, beautiful old woman in her twilight years; held by delicate threads. She is being animated with great concentration and virtuosity. In twelve real-time minutes she glides with wide outstreched arms from the darkness through memory out into time.

This intimate miniature about old age and the fear of it is like a heartbeat, the blink of an eye, a clock striking the hour or like an embrace.

„The delicate picture of this tiny, beautiful old woman stays with you. (…) By delicate threads Uta Gebert guides her beautiful small grandmother through loneliness, memory and fading, out into time. She weighs the issue like a breath of transience. Her wordless and poetic enchantment feels like a young woman’s declaration of love towards age."
